As a keen observer of contemporary influencer culture, Hamburg-based artist Vadim Batz quickly realized that hand-tufted rugs can be much more than just a hashtag on Instagram. Born in 1987 and raised in Astania - Kazakhstan, Vadim's visual environment fuses clones and copies of Western bootlegs and television culture such as power rangers and ninja turtles with colorful rugs - as found in many post-Soviet homes to insulate and decorate walls and floors.
