Sanja Henning has a professional background in therapeutic healthcare, which is reflected in her art. She uses her artistic practice to critically examine topics relating to health, illness and pain.
One of her most important works is a series of drawings that deal with the hidden logic of pain. The artist's drawings have a particular level of detail and intensity. They show how pain can often be invisible and indescribable and how we find it difficult to share our experiences with others.

Sanja Henning is not only an artist but also a physiotherapist. As part of her work, she deals with women who have been victims of sexual violence. She was particularly interested in how women find their way back into life after such experiences. Based on many conversations, recurring patterns in coping strategies have emerged, which are depicted on a tapestry in the form of stereotypical groupings.
