The first outdoor exhibition on our company premises opened up new perspectives. Over the summer months, a selection of works by young talents was on display in the parking lot. In cooperation with the non-profit initiative Fotobus e.V., young photography students were selected from over 100 submissions.
We have exhibited 14 photos with captions. A cross-section of the submitted photos that show what moves young talents and how they capture themes artistically in pictures.

Femicide
In her multi-part project 'On Every Third Day', Sina Niemeyer addresses femicides in Germany: murders of women and girls because of their gender read as female. The first chapter reconstructs the story of 15-year-old Noelle. On the night of August 5, 2020, she was raped on her way home and then strangled to death. Sina Niemeyer followed the court case for several months and then, in close collaboration with the mother and sister of the victim, developed a visual narrative consisting of images, objects and drawings of Noelle.
The mother of the 15-year-old Noelle, who was murdered in 2020, dives underwater near her garden shed, which serves as her refuge. Above it is a drawing of Noelle when she was eight years old. It shows heaven and earth.

Ground-stemmed
The Border Zone
Finland, Raatteentie, April 28, 2022: The Winter War Monument at Raatteentie in Suomussalmi. There is a stone around the monument for every Finnish and Russian soldier who died in the Battle of Suomussalmi. The field of stones commemorates the human suffering caused by the war and is intended to make the viewer reflect on the madness of war. During the Winter War, Finnish soldiers were able to withstand a better equipped and numerically superior enemy. There are many parallels to the situation in Ukraine today.

I had the pleasure to Catch A Glimpse Of Beauty

"Part of the series "I'm here to open you", in which I visualize my chronic pain by staging everyday objects in an attempt to make it more tangible."

walking on clouds
It all started in the summer of 2020, when I had my first panic attack. The following year, I was really miserable and increasingly struggled with anxiety. I don't know if the whole coronavirus thing was the trigger, but I do know that coronavirus made everything worse. The social isolation was very hard for me.
With "walking on clouds", I try to find and capture my inner world of emotions in my environment. In addition to professional help, I can use photography as a therapeutic medium to organize and process my emotions.
Smile effect
Smile effect (2020) Photographic work about the contraceptive pill, on the occasion of its 60th anniversary.
The oestrogen 17-alpha-ethinylestradiol, the main active ingredient in the contraceptive pill, enters lakes and rivers through inadequately adapted sewage treatment plants. Instead of sperm, many of the amphibians living in the polluted waters produce eggs; they feminize. The photo shows an African clawed frog. It is bred for research purposes in Berlin at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries.

BetweenLife
In a pluralized society like the one we find in Germany today, are we ourselves becoming a hybrid of the cultures we surround ourselves with? Where is my home? Can we appropriate foreign cultures? To what extent does our origin, or even just the memory of it, influence our cultural identity? And is there even such a thing as a cultural identity?
The photographic work "Within and Beyond Cultures" deals with these questions. Using a personal, autobiographical example, it explores the in-between spaces in which the lives of the three main protagonists take place. The project is about growing up between cultures (German, Polish & Vietnamese), cultural exploration and the sharing of cultural resources. Contrary to the idea of "culture clash", people and cultures meet here and bond in friendship and love.
